My (travel) List

I had a conversation with one of my close friends the other day.  I was in a hurry, so I didn't leave her much time to offer me advice.  She later called me and told me to make a list of things that make me happy and that make me look forward to living my life.  Things I want to do, accomplish, etc. etc. etc.  So today I decided to make a list.  A list of places I want to travel.  Since Casey and I split, the one thing I have looked forward to more than ever from my single life is the chance to see the world.

For example, in July 2011 I will be doing this in Hawaii:

It is called Stairway to Heaven.  It is an illegal hike, but people still climb it all the time.  Just looking at this picture scares the bejesus out of me!  I think this trek will help me a lot mentally as well as physically, and I'm looking forward to the thrill and challenge.

I also want to try cliff diving in Hawaii.  But in order to do that, I must first learn to swim. Hahah! I think I can learn before July...

Another place I'm going (but not anywhere in the relatively near future):

Santorini, Greece.  Casey & I always talked about vacationing here for our honeymoon, but now I think this is a place I would like to go to alone or with Logan or with a good friend.  Exploring Greece and coming back to this room:

It gives me a serene feeling just looking at the above picture.  I want to be there.

And Italy.  There is so much in Italy I would love to see and do.

One of my good friends just got stationed in Rota, Spain.  I told her when I graduate in two years that I'm going to visit her in Spain as a reward to myself.

I have had an unnatural curiosity about Ireland since I was a little girl.  I think this curiosity has only been intensified by my love for the color green.  That's weird, but it's true.

Ever since I saw the movie Balto when I was a kid, I've wanted to see the Aurora Borealis.  That's so hilarious (about the movie)!  But it was the first time I had ever heard of the Aurora Borealis, and now I want to witness them for myself.  Absolutely mesmerizing.

Of course there is a lot more of the world I want to see.  Who doesn't?  But I put these pictures here, of these places, to give me a feeling of hope.  Hope and change.

I feel better already.
